Published · Updated · App details checked 19–20 Oct 2026

There’s no single best UK day tracker. Pick by how you want your days logged: automatically by location, from imports and entries, or from check-ins you confirm.

The short answer

We make Nomad Pro, so read this with that in mind. Everything below about other apps comes from their own App Store listings and websites, checked on 19 October 2026. Staymark’s were checked on 20 October 2026.

Where your data lives

App What the developer says
Nomad Pro Travel log and work-day records stored on your device.[9] iCloud Drive sync is optional and off by default.[10]
Midnight Rule Your data syncs across your phone, the web and Apple TV.[1]
Domicile365 Lets you invite an adviser for read-only access.[2]
Bounded Your travel history stays on your phone. No account needed.[4]
Flamingo Compliance Data is stored on your device. iCloud sync comes with a subscription.[6]
Ovrnite You can use the app anonymously if you choose.[7]
Staymark No account needed. Your trips stay on your iPhone.[14] If you create an account, it stores your trips so you can see them on any device.[16]

How to choose

  1. Decide how days get in. Automatic tracking saves effort, but it’s still worth checking the days it fills in. On Bounded’s listing, the developer replies to one reviewer that its photo scan filled a gap with “the last known country”, and says it’s improving this.[4] Check-ins take a moment each day or week, and you confirm every entry.
  2. Decide how much UK logic you want. A plain day count tells you your UK days. Ties tracking also shows how many days your ties allow. HMRC’s tables for that are in RDR3.[11] Our 183-day myth guide explains the tests in order.
  3. Check what you can hand an adviser. All seven say you can export your records.[1][2][13][5][7][9][14] Keep the records behind each day too: booking emails, Airbnb, Booking.com and hotel confirmations, e-tickets, your calendar and bank statements.
  4. Check the platform. Four of the seven are iPhone or iPad only. Flamingo says it isn’t on Android yet.[6] Domicile365 says it’s on Android and Windows as well.[3] Staymark says it’s on Android and the web as well.[15]

What no app decides for you

An app counts days. Whether you’re UK resident depends on HMRC’s Statutory Residence Test for each tax year.[11] A day count is one input. Your UK home, your work and your UK ties can change the answer.[11]

So pick the app that keeps the cleanest record for you. Then check the tests yourself or with an adviser. Our how to count your UK days guide and what records HMRC says to keep help with both.

About Nomad Pro

Nomad Pro is an iPhone app for UK residence and Schengen record-keeping. You check in each day or week to record where you were and whether you worked.[9] It doesn’t gather your bookings for you. It counts your UK days, UK work days and Schengen 90/180 days, and exports CSV or PDF summaries.[9] It’s free to download, and core tracking is free.[10] Checking a trip before you book is a Premium feature.[10] Premium is £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year on the UK App Store.[9] It keeps records and counts days. It doesn’t decide your residence status.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best UK tax residence day tracker app?

There isn’t one best app. It depends on whether you want automatic location tracking, built-in UK ties logic, Schengen, Android, or check-ins you confirm. The table above sets out what each developer says.

Do these apps tell me whether I’m UK tax resident?

Not on their own. HMRC’s Statutory Residence Test decides that, and it looks at more than days.[11] Some apps show indicators for the tests. Treat them as a guide, not an answer.

Which apps track my location automatically?

Bounded, Domicile365, Flamingo Compliance and Ovrnite say they do.[2][3][4][5][6][7] Nomad Pro works from check-ins and can suggest your current country if you allow location.[9] Staymark says it doesn’t track your location.[14]

Do any of them work on Android?

Domicile365 and Staymark say they’re on Android.[3][15] Flamingo says it isn’t on Android yet.[6] We only checked the App Store for the others.

Are these prices the same in every country?

No. They’re the in-app purchases shown on each app’s UK App Store listing on 19 October 2026, or 20 October for Staymark. They can change, and other countries’ stores can show different prices.

Is there a free way to check my UK days?

Yes. Our free UK residence days walkthrough runs through HMRC’s tests. HMRC also has a residence status checker that gives an indication for the current or previous 6 tax years.[12] Nomad Pro’s core tracking is free too.
